Despite her injury-riddled career, Tatiana Suarez is yet to lose a fight in the UFC. The strawweight fighter has a perfect 8-0-0 record in her Pro-MMA career which makes fans draw parallels between her and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The American who has Mexican ancestry has recently hinted at a comeback in February 2023, which has excited her fans. She was responding to a fan’s question about a possible comeback on Twitter. Fans are now hoping to see her go on a Khabib-esque victory streak.
Khabib Nurmagomedov had a magical run in the promotion from 2012 to 2014. He plucked 6 victories in the period and was looking absolutely undefeatable, but injuries halted him. He suffered multiple injuries one after the other and had to go on a lengthy hiatus. His return, however, was remarkable, and he remained undefeated throughout his career. Fans are expecting Tatiana Suarez to do something similar.

There were also some skeptical voices. A fan who felt Suarez was past her prime said, “Khabib always says you have 1 peak if you don’t take full advantage it will pass by. She’s 32 and only had 8 fights? Sadly I don’t see it.”
While there were a few nay-sayers, Suarez has found support too. A user commented, “Yes, can’t wait to see her fight in 2023, she’s in a comfortable weight class she should be relatively healthy, and all of that time off she possibly did alot of skill development outside of the cage. Really hoping she goes on a Khabib-esque run, like when he returned after his 2 year stint of injuries.”

Another supporter who thought Tatiana was down Khabib lane commented, “If she is the female Khabib then everything going according to plan. Remember that Khabib was sidelined for a while with injuries. Find the female Michael Johnson and let’s continue the story as it was written.”
While injuries are a part of MMA, Suarez has fought something much bigger.
Tatiana Suarez survived cancer
While training for the 2012 London Olympics, Tatiana Suarez suffered a neck injury. It derailed her Olympic plans. While she underwent scans after her injury, doctors found an unwanted disc in her neck and a cancerous growth in her thyroid. Suarez underwent a long recovery process. She then discovered MMA and went on 8-fights unbeaten run, with her last fight being against Nina Nunes at UFC 238 in 2019.
Suarez was set to face Roxanne Modafferi in 2021, but had to pull out of the fight because of injury concerns. The recent updates have raised hopes for fans and they will hope Suarez will emulate Khabib Nurmagomedov’s run.
