It's Taylor Swift's birthday — and you know what that means — we all get a present.
And the gift is a good one: Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour Film is officially available to stream. You heard that right — you don't need to head to a stadium or even to a cinema to watch the queen in action — you just need to head to your living room.
Considering just how hard Swift worked to make this epic tour a reality, we are infinitely grateful. After all, in her recent Person of the Year interview with Time, the singer explained that she actually began training for the tour six months in advance. “Every day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud,” she said. “Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs.” She also did three months of dance training and — gasp — gave up drinking. And we all know how much Miss Swift loves a glass or two of wine.
The film version of the tour was initially released in cinemas in the UK on Friday 13 October and, unsurprisingly, it broke a ton of records. In fact, a whole week before the film was even released, it broke the record for the most profitable concert film in history. She really is a mastermind, isn't she?
On November 28, Swift announced the good news: the film would be available for streaming on December 13 — yes, in honour of Queen Swift's 34th birthday.
“Hi! Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home!” she wrote. “Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film including ‘Wildest Dreams,’ ‘The Archer’ and ‘Long Live’ will be available to rent on demand in the US, Canada & additional countries to be announced soon starting on … you guessed it, December 13 🫶💋”
That's right — the new extended version of the film features three new songs that weren't included in the film in cinemas.
Where can I stream Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is available to rent for £15.99 from today, December 13 on Apple TV+, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play and YouTube, so you have plenty of choices.
Are you ready for it? Because we so are.
With a three-hour runtime, the film sees Swift’s Eras tour stadium performance play out in its entirety, giving fans who missed out on securing tickets to the tour itself a chance to still revel in the glory of the record-breaking tour and what Taylor herself describes as “the most meaningful, electric experience of [her] life so far”.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in numbers
Unsurprisingly, tickets for the Eras Tour concert film have been in high demand, with it having already brought in over £82m in advance ticket sales as of last week, according to AMC.
In addition to bringing the film release forward in the US, the ‘Blank Space’ singer also announced further showtimes on Friday and over the weekend, with this expected to boost ticket sales by a further $50m (£43m) according to Variety.
Before it's even been released the film has already become the highest-grossing concert film ever, beating out Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (2021) which earned $99m (£80.5m) at the box office.
Truly, is there anything this woman can't do?
Taking to X , the singer wrote “Look what you genuinely made me do: Due to unprecedented demand we’re opening up early access showings of The Eras Tour Concert Film on THURSDAY in America and Canada!!”
The announcement came on the day of the film's premiere in Los Angeles where Tay Tay was supported by none other than Beyoncé herself, resulting in some iconic photos of the pair below, and fans understandably losing it.
The singer attended the film’s premiere in an immaculate Oscar de la Renta gown, notably in the same blue shade as the cover art for her upcoming re-release of her album 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Real Swifties will know the significance of this given that her 1989 era colour is blue.
So, when is the Eras tour coming to the UK?
While Vue Cinema are screening the film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, when is the actual tour itself coming to the UK? Swift has nine further dates of the record-breaking tour in the US before taking the show global.
UK dates for next year are as follows:
- Edinburgh, Murrayfield Stadium: 7, 8 & 9 June
- Liverpool, Anfield Stadium: 13, 14 & 15 June
- Cardiff, Principality Stadium: 18 June
- London, Wembley Stadium: 21, 22 & 23 June, then 15, 16, 17, 19 & 20 August
The full run of the Era Tour is expected to earn an eye-watering $1.4bn (£1.1bn) across ticket sales, merchandise, and other revenue, according to Pollstar.
We can't say we're surprised given the hype surrounding this iconic tour. Roll on June 2024!
