Wembanyama stated he loves discussing soccer with his fellow San Antonio teammate, Jeremy Sochan. He stated, “We talk about soccer from time to time. My team is PSG, of course (…) We’ve known each other for a long time and we get on well, but it’s a shame he’s an Arsenal fan.”

The player also praised Mbappe, talking about his admiration for the fellow Frenchman. “I realize that we have a lot in common. He’s the player who inspires me most when it comes to soccer. He’s someone I identify with a lot. Nevertheless, I want to be original and go my own way,” mentioned Wembanyama.

The player is the leading contender to win the Rookie of the Year title. However, his latest outing against the New York Knicks made it clear that the road to success is not bestowed, but earned.

Victor Wembanyama struggles as Knicks blow out Spurs

The French star debuted at the MSG facing the New York Knicks. All eyes were on the 7-foot-4 star, as fans expected the player to put on a classic. However, things went the opposite way, as the Knicks blew the San Antonio Spurs out of the water, winning the game by 126-105.

Wembanyama finished the game with 14 points and nine rebounds, which might be his roughest outing since his debut. San Antonio Spurs knows they have a gem on their hands and will be trying their best to work things out for the player.
